Who can add Gift Aid

You can add Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer and will have paid at least as much Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in this tax year (6 April to 5 April) as all the charities you give to will reclaim on your donations. Other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not count.

Gift Aid cannot be added if:

  • The money is from a company, not from you personally
  • You are donating on behalf of someone else or a group
  • You are receiving something in return (tickets, goods, a service)
  • You are not a UK taxpayer this year

What you are agreeing to

When you tick the Gift Aid box on our donate page you make this declaration:

I want to Gift Aid this donation and any donations I make in the future or have made in the past 4 years to Ilaahi Foundation.

I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference. I understand that other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify.

What we need from you

HMRC asks for your name and home address so they can match the claim to a taxpayer. That is why the form asks for your first and last name, house name or number and postcode. We do not need your date of birth or National Insurance number and will never ask for them.

If your circumstances change

Please let us know if you:

  • want to cancel this declaration
  • change your name or home address
  • no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains

The quickest way is a message on Instagram.

Higher rate taxpayers

If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.

How we look after your declaration

We keep Gift Aid declarations for six years after the end of the tax year in which we claim, as HMRC requires, and use them for nothing else.
